Question on collateral loans......?ok so like my husband and i were trying to get a collateral loan so that we can fix his bad credit by paying it all of, it is only 7,000 dollars. so we went threw the credit union wich is where they do those and they said that his credit score is under 600, barely under it though, and so they said we did not qualify

I am Canadian, how do I clean up my credit rating.?I was extremely ill and payments were late, but have been paid in a timely fashion for the last year. I just applied for a car loan and was turned down for "bankruptcy". I have never gone bankrupt, why would that show on my credit rating if I never went bankrupt?
