| Do it yourself. As long as you're not a millionaire or try crazy deduction tricks, the IRS really won't bother you. Those tax preperation places are worthless. You can do all that yourself without that dumb software. |

| Depends how complicated your finances are. Mine are simple, so I've had great luck using Turbo Tax. If you have different investments, a mortgage, a family, lots of deductions, etc. that make your taxes more difficult to figure out, then maybe a professional is better. |

| I am a financial planner..... I always recommend a CPA to my clients. Turbo Tax is ok... but there are so many variables that it can NOT take into consideration.
I realize this is a serious answer, and out of character for me... but I am trying to help this young bird in her quest for financial happiness! |

| Been to H&R Block already and already got my Refund and already almost spent the whole damn thing. I`m just too lazy to do it myself no matter how 'easy' it supposedly is, I`d rather have a pro do it for me. |

| I've filed with Turbo Tax on-line since 2001...only complaint is this year...because congress failed to extend residents in states with no state tax ability to deduct sales tax paid. the government won't accept tax returns claiming that particular deduction until 1st week in Feb... Thinking on it I only get $836 deduction for sales tax and I will already get back more than I paid in I'm going to remove that deduction and submit my return tonight... |

| I've been using Turbo Tax for years. I've done mine, my daughters and my mother's taxes. My mother is the one with the house, home equity loans, etc. and Turbo Tax works great for all her complicated stuff as well as my daughter's easy stuff & my in between stuff.
What's great about Turbo Tax is there are plenty of "help" buttons to clarify the different questions it asks you. It even has a video form of these questions & answers so you can actually hear a person speaking to you. It walks you step by step through everything. If my mother were to take her taxes and information to H&R Block she would pay upwards of $300 to $700. We do the same thing for a fraction of the cost with Turbo Tax. She's the one with the mortgage, home equity line of credit, 2nds, 401K's, etc. And one of the best things is if you have a Costco near you it's much cheaper & 9 times out of 10 it comes with a rebate as well. I also use to use TT when I had my homebased business for several years & it worked great for that. It even helped walk me through desolving my business with the IRS. I've also used it when selling stocks, capital gains & dividends, daycare payments, taking money out of my IRA's with penalties & taxes, etc. It's wonderful! I can't say enough good things about the program! It's great! And like I said if you have a Costco near you get it there for less money! Good luck! |
