If I obtain my Series 7 license, is there a need for a Series 6 or Series 63? |

| I am considering taking Series 7 course work and exam. Is there a need to take the Series 6 and Series 63 also? It looks like the Series 7 would cover what these other licenses cover. Also what Licence would I need for trading Futures and commodities?

| You would not need a 6, because the 7 supercedes that. You would still need the 63 or 65 or the 66 which is a combination of those 2. Those licenses govern state regulations/blue sky type of information. If you are to become an advisor, you have to obtain those licenses. If you want to do Futures and Commodities, you would need the 31. A brokerage firm will not let you trade futures or commodities until you are 2 - 3 years in the business just because of risk to the firm |
